Our Raw Organic Stone-Ground Creamy Pistachio Butter is crafted in our California processing facility from organic California pistachios slowly stone-ground in small batches. We grind at low speeds and low temperatures to preserve the pistachios’ vibrant flavor, natural oils, and nutrient density.
Unlike roasted nut butters, our raw process highlights the pistachio’s naturally sweet, delicate flavor while maintaining its full nutritional integrity. The result is an exceptionally smooth, creamy pistachio butter with a bright green color and rich, pure pistachio taste.

What is your return policy?
We are a small craft food business and do not accept product returns or exchanges. All sales are final.
The nature of small batch artisanal craft food production is that every batch is a little different, and that both the taste and texture may be unlike other commercially mass-produced nut butters and snacks. For this reason we do not offer refunds for taste or texture complaints.
However, if ever a product does not meet your expectations for the high quality you are accustomed to from Philosopher Foods please contact us right away so that we can address your concern.
When do you ship orders? When will my order arrive
Orders will generally ship within 1-3 business days, however it can sometimes take longer during holiday or sales events.
For free shipping, we default to the cheapest Ground option. Generally speaking, Ground delivery can take 3 - 10 business days to arrive after being shipped. If you want expedited shipping, you will have that choice and checkout and we will flag your order for expedited processing.
All shipping speeds are estimates provided by the carrier and Philosopher Foods does not guarantee delivery times.
Are you located in retail stores?
You can find our sprouted almond butters in about 300 stores nationwide, which can be found on our store locator.
This also needs to be updated on the Gut Nuts page because we're not in Sprouts anymore.

We will be launching in 27 stores (half the region) of Whole Foods Northern California in early 2025.

Do you add any oils?
We do not use or add oils during our manufacturing process for our creamy almond butters. The only oils in our products are those oils naturally occurring in almonds themselves.
For our Alchemy almond butters, we add coconut oil to this product for added healthful fat and naturally sweet flavor.
Is a liquid consistency normal for the creamy almond butter?
Yes, a liquid consistency is perfectly normal for this product. Stone grinding our almond butters for 12 hours in small batches at slow speeds and low temperatures creates a smooth drinkable/pourable texture unlike other commercially mass-produced nut butters.
The result: a versatile, nutrient-dense plant-based protein that’s pourable, blendable, and dippable. This silky smooth texture is a hallmark quality of our Creamy Almond Butter products. This pourable texture is also described on the label / product description. The Crunchy Almond Butter definitely has more body due to the chunky crunchy almond bits that are mixed in.
Why are your almond butters more expensive than alternatives?
We understand and regret that the price point can be restrictive, however it is very expensive to make the highest quality artisanal organic food! We are proud to pay all of our employees a living wage. We also pay for the highest quality ingredients available that meet Regenerative Organic and Fair Trade Certification whenever possible.
We do this to incentivize our farmers to earn more money by building soil, increasing habitat, and enhancing biodiversity.
